Nollywood Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe Hospitalized After Unexpected Kick from Zubby Michael on Set

Nollywood actor Godwin Nnadiekwe is currently undergoing medical treatment for internal bleeding after being kicked in the chest by fellow actor Zubby Michael during a movie shoot.

The incident took place on the set of an undisclosed film project and, according to Nnadiekwe, the kick was neither scripted nor directed. Sharing his story on Instagram, Nnadiekwe made it clear that he wasn’t pointing fingers but wanted to raise awareness about on-set safety in Nollywood.

“This isn’t to call anyone out, but it’s a serious reminder that we need to prioritize each other’s safety on set,” he wrote. “During a scene, I received a kick to the chest from my colleague that wasn’t part of the script or directed by the director.”

Nnadiekwe emphasized the lack of immediate medical assistance and the absence of health insurance or first aid on set, calling for industry-wide reform:

“When we’re working without insurance policies or readily available first aid, unexpected physical actions like this, even if accidental, can have real consequences.”

He ended his statement with a plea for professionalism and accountability on set:

“Our health and safety are paramount. Our well-being should always come first.”

A statement from his management later confirmed the incident and its severity:

“We regret to inform you that Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening. He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following an incident involving a kick on the chest during filming with his colleague Zubby Michael.”

The statement added that fans would be updated as his recovery progresses and thanked them for their concern:

“Keep Godwin in your thoughts.”
